All About Visiting Teaching

Is visiting teaching your bag?
We know that it must be
For you said, "Yes, I'll be one,"
And you said it willingly.

Well, let us throw out some tips to you
For you new ones gathered here
That you may know what you should do
As you journey through this year.

As you make your monthly visits
You'll build friendships that will last
But do it early sisters
For time zips by so fast!

There may be new doors you'll knock on
'Twill dampen down your fire
You'll get a cool reception
Your first visit could turn sour.

And it's just because, dear sisters,
They haven't come to know
The joy that's in this sisterhood,
The blessings that will flow.

So you are to spread the sunshine
And never mind the rain
For we are all human beings
God loves us all the same.

And if He loves us all the same,
You shouldn't care at all
If some don't want to join at first,
Don't give up on your call.

Oh yes, know this, that some
May put you through the test
But you'll find out in the long run -
They'll blend in with the rest.

Oh, many times you'll warm a home
With soups & cakes & bread -
But most of all, dear sisters,
Make sure her spirit's fed.

At times you'll think you bit off
Much more than you can chew
And feel you simply can't do all
That you are called to do.

But stick to it, I promise
That you will come to know
The happiness that follows
When you do His work below.

And please until you get one hundred percent
Don't call your teaching done
For we can't bear the thought
Of you missing even one.

Sometimes we just turn a little pale
Fearing someone might be missed
For every single sister
Must be on the list.

We hope that you will be there
When her days are sad and blue
Please make sure your love is felt
In everything you do.

Be mindful as you visit teach
And have a listening ear
Then lock her thoughts deep in your heart
That others should not hear.

No matter what, He loves us
Through winter, spring, and fall
